Exceptional Learning

The Gregory School for Exceptional Learning is designed to meet the needs of students who require individualized programming. The school serves students who have communication disorders, learning disabilities and attention difficulties. Cutbacks in Ontario's public education system have led to large classroom sizes as well as the limited use of special education teachers and educational assistants. For this reason, many parents are finding that their children's needs cannot be well met. The Gregory School has been created to provide a setting in which students can receive specialized programming with individualized instruction. We firmly believe that the right educational setting can help children be successful and lead to fulfilling and productive adult lives.

The Gregory School's programs are designed for students who have speech and language, learning, organizational, reasoning or attention difficulties and who may be functioning below age expectations. Each student receives individualized programming to meet his or her specific needs. Core academic sessions are taught with an average student-teacher ratio of 3:1.  The students experience a larger group setting for music, art, physical education, and science.  The school has consultant speech-language therapists, a music therapist, occupational therapists and a behaviour therapist who assist in planning and carrying out the students' educational programs.
